Values, such as equality, liberty, democracy or solidarity, constitute the normative foundation of our society and regulate the way we live together. Typically, political debates are based on competing conceptions of what these values mean, causing controversies and at times severe interpersonal or international conflicts. So what do these terms signify and require in specific decision contexts? Which should be prioritized?
